Everybody may enjoy paddling a canoe on the river Suså from Vetterslev to Næstved via the Tystrup-Bavelse Lakes. However, there is an upper limit to the number of canoes permitted on the river per day.

This rule was introduced to protect the wildlife on the water, in the canebrake and on the banks. However, also the local residents and the canoeists will feel that they are in the middle of the beautiful nature and landscape and not in an amusement park.

This is the reason why the number plates are mandatory, and you have to obtain a number plate for your canoe before you start out on the river Suså.

If you rent a canoe from one of the rental companies it already has a number plate, but if you want to use your own canoe and you live in one of the municipalities surrounding the Suså, you must obtain a number plate from Næstved Kommune, Information, Brogade 2, Næstved. You can find an application form at the website www.naestved.dk or you can have it send to you by contacting Lillian Knudsen, tel. +45 5588 6052, or Sahre Yucel Buruk, tel. +45 5588 6054. Otherwise contact Kongskilde Friluftsgård – Nature Department, tel. +45 5784 9277. The price is DKK 100.00 for a licence and a number plate for the canoe. The licence is valid for up to four days.
