Taxicabs and Taxifares

All Danish taxicabs have a taximeter which must be activated when starting and turned off upon arrival at the destination. The taximeter shows the fare inclusive of VAT and tipping, but in addition to the fare, payment of the following extras can be a possibility when the customer arrives at his destination:

For suitcases, trunks, boxes, etc., placed on the exterior of the vehicle: DKK 20 each
For bicycles and prams, placed on the exterior of the vihicle: DKK 20 each
For assistance with luggage, or other kind of assistance: DKK 20

Current fares when driving up to 4 passengers:
Tariff 1 (Mons-Fris between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m.): DKK 12.50 per kilometre.

Tariff 2 (Mondays-Thursdays between 4 p.m. and 7 a.m, Fridays between 4 p.m. and 11 p.m., Saturdays-Sundays between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m. ): DKK 13.50 per kilometre.

Tariff 3 (Friday nights between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m.), Saturday nights between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. , Constitution Day 5th June, and day of New Year's Eve and holidays:
DKK 16.80 per kilometre.

To this must be added the basic fare which for a taxi hailed in the street is DKK 24.00 and for a taxi booked in advance over the phone DKK 37.00.

Waiting meter charge: DKK 6.25 per minut, irrespective of size of cab. (This charge applies to situations where the taxi is being halted or made to drive very slowly due to i.e. traffic problems).

Please note!
When hailing a taxi in the streets of Copenhagen on a Friday and Saturday night between 11 p.m. to 7 a.m., the basic fare is DKK 40, and if you book one in advance over the phone, the basic fare will be DKK 50.

Taxi drivers are obliged to offer the customer a print-out with specifications of the ride undertaken such as license number of the car, price and distance covered, address and phone number of taxi company.

For more spacious cabs which seat 5 or more passengers, the basic fare is DKK 90.00, and the kilometre rate is either DKK 15.65, 17.05, and 21.00, depending on time of day.

However, if the cab is used by 1-4 persons only and has not been booked as a spacious cab, the kilometre rate is the same as listed for ordinary cabs.

The tariffs listed here are valid for the metropolitan area, but as tariffs are fixed locally, they may vary a little in other parts of the country.
In addition to the regular train services from the Copenhagen Airport to the Copenhagen central railway station, you can of course take a taxi to the centre of Copenhagen as well. The price may vary depending on the route taken by the taxi company, but in average the cost will amount to DKK 200 during the daytime, DKK 220 during the evening, and DKK 250 in the night and in week-ends.
